These soft Raw Papaya Rava Chilla are very easy to prepare. Thus it can be made as an easy breakfast or snack. The taste of these chilla are very different from Besan Chilla. You can find many of rava chilla recipes with curd/yogurt, but try this recipe with fresh cream as it becomes more soft and tasty. By adding raw papaya to it- make this recipe much more nutritious because raw papaya has so many health benefits like it reduces signs of Skin Aging, reduces the risk of Heart Disease and it also improves digestion.

Papaya Rava Chilla_Final

Instructions for how to make Raw Papaya Rava Chilla:

  1. Firstly, take 1.5 cups of rava/ suji/ semolina in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Then add 1/2 cup fresh cream, salt to taste, 1/2 tsp ground black pepper and 1 cup water to it.
  3. With the help of whisk or spoon, mix well without forming any lumps. Keep it aside and rest for 20 minutes or till rava swells completely.
  4.  Now add 1.5 cup grated raw papaya to it. There is no need to squeeze papaya.
  5. Next, add finely chopped 1 onion, 1/2 capsicum, 1 carrot, 1 green chili and 2 tbsp green coriander to it.
  6. Mix well and add water if required to get thick flowing consistency batter.
  7. Now grease the non-stick pan or dosa pan and take a ladle of the batter.
  8. Gently spread the batter on the pan to make medium-sized chillas. Spread the batter to a neat round shape.
  9. Pour ½ tsp of over the cheela if you are using non-stick pan and around the edges if you are using cast-iron pan. When the base has cooked and becomes light golden, then flip and cook the other side of cheela.
  10. Flip over and press gently making sure chilla gets cooked from both sides.
  11. Yummy and healthy Raw Papaya Sooji Cheela is ready to serve. Enjoy it with tamarind chutney or green chutney or tomato sauce or butter.

Tips:

  • Make sure to soak the rava/ suji atleast for 20 minutes, else rava chilla will not taste good.
  • With grated raw papaya, add any vegetables of your choice like green beans, cabbage etc. to make it more nutritious.
  • You can finely chop or minced  all vegetables in chopper or food processor.
  • The quantity of fresh cream can be reduced as per your preference. You can also increase, but it will be difficult to handle chillas for beginners.
  • Rava Chilla / Sooji ka Cheela tastes great when served hot with butter, tomato sauce, tamarind chutney, green chutney or even with Peanut chutney.
