Dahi Papdi chaat is very easy and quick to prepare at home, if papdi and chutneys are handy. You can use homemade Papdi for this recipe or you can use store-bought papdi too, if you have time constraint. The way I prepared yogurt in this recipe, even if you do not have sweet tamarind chutney, this chaat will taste good. In place of boiled black chickpeas, you can use boiled white chickpeas or boiled moong dal or sprouted moong dal. Instructions for how to make Street style Dahi Papdi Chaat at home:
- Firstly, prepare curd/ dahi for chaat. Take 1 cup beaten curd in a small bowl and then add1/2 tbsp sugar and 1/2 tsp black salt to it. mix really well to dissolve the sugar. Keep it aside.
- Take 15 papdi in a serving plate. To prepare homemade papdi, check out my Papdi Recipe.
- Top the papdis with 3 tbsp chopped boiled potatoes, 2 tbsp boiled black chana/ black garbanzo and 2 tbsp finely chopped onion.
- Drizzle 4 tbsp prepared curd over it.
- Sprinkle a pinch of salt, red chili powder, freshly roasted cumin powder and chaat masala over it.
- Next, top it with 2-3 tsp green chutney and 2-3 tsp tamarind chutney.
- Pour 1 tbsp more prepared curd and top it with 2 tbsp sev. Garnish it with finely chopped fresh green coriander and few pomegranate seeds. Again sprinkle a pinch of red chili powder and chaat masala.
- Mouth watering Dahi Papdi Chaat is ready to serve. Enjoy this chaat immediately, if you serve it later the papdis become soggy.

Tips:
- Always use fresh papdi, else the chaat will not taste good.
- Adjust the amount of curd as per your taste. However, it tastes great with a generous amount of curd.
- You can use plain beaten curd also, but for street style flavour add sugar and black salt to it.
- Curd has to be beaten thoroughly for smooth dahi, to be poured over the chaat.
- Garnishing with pomegranate is optional, you can also garnish with finely chopped tomatoes.
- Dahi Papdi Chaat tastes great, when served immediately.
