Black Chana Chaat is very nutritious as black chickpeas/ kala chana is a good source of antioxidants which will promote heart health and reduce the risk of heart diseases. Chickpeas are rich in protein and fiber, both of which aid weight loss. Fibre will control the cholesterol levels and keeps you fuller for longer and protein satiates hunger. The fiber content in it also takes good care of your digestive system.

Instructions for how to make Black Chana Chaat:
- Firstly, heat 2 tsp oil in a pan/kadai and add 1 cup of boiled black chana. Continue to sauté for 2 minutes.
- Keeping the flame on low, add ¼ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp red chili powder, ¼ tsp garam masala, ¼ tsp dried mango powder/ amchur, ½ tsp chaat masala and salt to taste.
- Sauté on low flame until spices turn aromatic. Mash off few chana to have a good texture.
- Transfer the spiced kala chana to a bowl. Then add boiled & cubed potato and sweet potato to it.
- Next, add finely chopped onion, tomatoes, fresh green coriander and 4 mint leaves to it. If you have dry mint leaves then crush them or you can add 1/3 tsp mint powder.
- Add 1 tbsp green chutney, 1 tbsp tamarind chutney, and 2 tbsp curd to it.
- Mix well making sure everything is combined well.
- Transfer the black chana over the plate for serving and top it with 1 tbsp curd, 1 tsp green chutney and 1 tsp tamarind chutney.
- Then sprinkle 2 tsp finely chopped onion, 2 tsp tomato, 3 tbsp sev, 1 tsp coriander leaves and 2 pinches of freshly roasted cumin powder.

- You can add lemon juice if you want to skip curd/ plain yogurt and make this recipe dairy-free & vegan.
- You can also add crushed papdi to give it more crunch.
- You can add or skip any of ingredients even spices as per your preference.
- Black Chana Chaat tastes great, when it is prepared peppery.
