Idli Dhokla is an instant recipe, in which there is no need cut and shape the dhokla pieces, as its already in small discs shape. I have already shared Instant Khaman Dhokla Recipe earlier, which has prepared with gram flour only and rava/ semolina is not added. So it has little different flavour than that. It is healthy breakfast option too for busy mornings. Instructions for how to make Idli Dhokla in microwave:
- Firstly, take 1 cup gram flour/ besan and 1/2 cup of semolina/ sooji in a large mixing bowl. Then add 3/4 cup curd to it and start mixing it.
- Next add 1/2 cup of water in small portions to make a thick and dense lump free batter.
- Then add 1 tsp ginger paste, 3/4 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and 1 tbsp sugar to it and mix them really well.
- Lump free smooth batter is ready. Cover and set it aside for 10 minutes. Meanwhile grease the idli stand.
- Now, add 2 tsp lemon juice and mix well.
- Next add 3/4 tsp Eno fruit salt and mix gently until the mixture turns frothy. Make sure do not stir for longer time.
- Now immediately pour the batter into greased idli plate.
- Place the idli stand in microwave for 4.5-5 minutes. If you are using gas stove idli stand then steam it for 12-15 minutes.
- Then separate out the dhokla from idli moulds using a knife.
- Now, let's prepare its tempering, heat 2 tsp oil in a pan and splutter 1/2 tsp mustard seeds and 12-15 curry leaves.
- Then add 1/2 cup of water, 1/4 tsp or salt to taste, and 1 tsp sugar to it. Mix them well.
- Bring a boil and the tempering is ready.
- Pour the tempering over the idli, make sure the water is absorbed by idli.
- Garnish it with 2 tbsp fresh grated coconut and 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh coriander.
- Palatable Idli Dhokla in microwave is ready to serve. Enjoy it with tomato sauce or green chutney!

Tips:
- Always use good quality besan, else the dhokla will be dense.
- After adding Eno fruit salt, steam the dhokla immediately to have soft and spongy dhokla.
- You can also use sesame seeds for tempering.
- Idli Dhokla tastes great when served hot with tomato ketchup.
