Paneer Bhurji tastes great when served with Indian flat breads like Chapati, Kulcha or plain Paratha for lunch or dinner. Even it tastes great with white or wheat bread for breakfast. You can also make sandwiches with Paneer Bhurji. It can also be used for Kids Lunch box.
Basically, Bhurji means scrambled so this dish is scrambled paneer/cottage cheese. Bhurji can also prepared with Tofu also. You can also checkout Gobhi Bhurji Recipe , that I have shared earlier. Instructions for how to make Paneer Bhurji:
- In a pan/ kadai heat 1.5 tbsp oil. Add cumin seeds to it and let them splutter.
- Add 1 chopped onion to it and sauté till they become translucent.
- Then add 1 finely chopped green chili, 1 tbsp finely chopped green bell pepper/ capsicum and 1 tsp ginger paste or grated ginger.
- Next, add 1 chopped tomato and 1 tsp or salt to taste. Sauté till they turn soft and mushy.
- Add 1/2 tsp red chili powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and 1 tsp coriander cumin powder to it. Mix well all the spices and roast them for a minute.
- Add 200gm or 1 cup crumbled Paneer/ cottage cheese and 2 tbsp chopped fresh coriander leaves to it.
- Mix gently without mashing out the paneer.
- Cover and cook for 2 minutes, so that paneer will absorb all the flavours.
- Add 1/4 tsp garam masala to it. Mix well. Paneer Bhurji is ready to serve.
- Enjoy hot Paneer Bhurji with chapati, plain paratha or Kulcha.

Tips:
- Always use fresh homemade paneer for more tasty paneer bhurji.
- Adding finely chopped capsicum is optional. But it gives more crunch to bhurji.
- After adding Paneer, do not over cook, as paneer turns hard and chewy.
- To make it more spicy, you can add 1/2 tsp ground black pepper at the end with garam masala.
- Paneer Bhurji taste great when served hot and slightly spicy.
