Chana Salad recipe is a simple recipe. This recipe begins with soaking the kabuli chaana in water for overnight and then boil it for 4-5 whistles in pressure cooker. The chana will turn soft and tender. Then you can mix it with boiled potatoes, finely chopped onions, tomatoes, lemon juice, chutney’s like green chutneytamarind chutney. Add chaat masala, salt and black pepper and garnish it with coriander leaves. Finally, the healthy chickpea salad is ready to serve. 

As I have mentioned earlier you can add more vegetables like finely chopped cucumber, paneer, tofu, sprouts etc, which will make it more healthy.

Instructions for how to prepare Chana Salad:

  1. Add boiled chana in a mixing bowl.
  2. Then add chopped onion to it.
  3. Add boiled potatoes ( cut into small cubes) to it.
  4. Add finely chopped tomatoes to it.
  5. Add finely chopped green chili and coriander leaves to it.
  6. Add Chaat masala to it.
  7. Add grounded black pepper and salt to it.
  8. Add lemon juice to it.
  9. Add tamarind chutney to it.
  10. Then add green chutney to it.
  11. Add roasted cumin powder.
  12. Mix all the ingredients well. Healthy chana salad is ready to serve. Enjoy it as a light snack or as salad with lunch and dinner.

Tips:

  • Remove the seeds from tomato. 
  • Add the amount of green chuntey depending on the spice you are looking for. It is optional. You can add fresh chopped mint leaves or mint powder.
  • Adding tamarind chutney is optional but it enhances the taste of salad to give it sweet and sour flavour. If you don't have tamarind chutney increase the amount of lemon juice.
