Besides whole spices, do not add any other aromatics or herbs as the main ingredient of this recipe is Green Peas. You can use either fresh or frozen peas for this recipe. But during winter season, fresh peas are easily available, so you can prepare this recipe with fresh peas.

Instructions for how to make Green Peas Pulao:
- Firstly, take 1 cup/glass basmati rice in a bowl and wash them 2-3 times and then soak for 10 mins.
- In a pressure cooker, heat 1 tbsp oil/ ghee and add 1 bay leaf, 2 dry red chili, 2 green cardamom, 2-3 cloves and 1 tsp cumin seeds to it. Sauté till they turn aromatic.
- Then add 8-10 whole cashew nuts and roast them for a minute.
- Add 3/4 cup green peas and sauté well. You can use either fresh or frozen peas.
- Now, add soaked basmati rice and sauté gently. Add salt to taste.
- Add 1.5 cups/glasses of water.
- Pressure cook for 1 whistle on medium flame.
- Let the pressure settle down on its own and then open the lid of the cooker. With a fork, you can gently stir the rice without breaking the rice grains.
- Garnish with finely chopped fresh coriander leaves and Matar Pulao is ready to serve.
- Enjoy it with raita - especially with Mix veg Raita or chutney or any curries with gravy or Dal.

10. Let the pressure settle down on its own and then open the lid of the cooker. With a fork, you can gently stir the rice without breaking the rice grains.
11. Garnish with finely chopped fresh coriander leaves and Matar Pulao is ready to serve. Enjoy it with raita, chutney or any curries with gravy.
Tips:
- Try to use aged basmati rice for preparing Peas Pulao.
- For most rice varieties, the rice to water ratio is generally 1:2 if you are preparing in Kadai/Pot and 1:1.5 if you are preparing in Pressure cooker. However, this ratio can vary, depending on the particular type of rice used or the cooking method used.
- Soaking rice grains gives them a better texture when they are cooked.
- This peas pulao recipe is not spicy. To make a spicy matar pulav, you can add some green chilies and 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste.
