Mac and Cheese is not too spicy, that's why kids also really enjoy eating it.
Instructions for how to cook Mac & Cheese at home:
- Firstly, heat 2 tbsp butter in a large pan/kadai and then add 1 tbsp corn flour to it.
- Roast the flour with butter for 3-4 minutes on low flame.
- Then add 3 cups of milk to it and bring a boil. Milk should be at room temperature.
- Then add 1.5 cups of macaroni to it and bring a boil.
- Stir occasionally and cook until the macaroni is al dente or just cooked. It should not get too soft or mushy or break.
- Then add capsicum julienne (green and red) and 1 tbsp sweet corn to it. This is totally optional.
- Add salt as per taste, 1/2 tsp ground black pepper and dried basil leaves to it.
- Cook it a minute or two and turn off the flame.
- Then add 1 cup Cheddar cheese to it and mix it well. Make sure do not overcook the cheese. Mac and cheese is ready at this step. It can be served hot but for slightly crispier flavour follow the next steps.
- Take oven-safe serving bowl and transfer the cooked Mac and cheese to it.
- Top it with cheddar cheese, bread crumbs and sprinkle some mixed herbs. It is ready to bake.
- Place it in the pre-heated oven at 350°F for 10 minutes.
- Delicious cheesy Mac and Cheese is ready to serve. Enjoy!

Tips:
- In place of corn-flour, you can also use plain flour/maida or wheat flour/Aata.
- In place black pepper, red chili flakes can also be added.
- Chopped basil leaves and parsley leaves can also be added in place of mixed herbs.
- Adding breadcrumbs are totally optional.
- Mac and Cheese tastes great when served hot.
