Papaya Fries is the simple and healthy recipe prepared with raw/ green papaya or Kaccha Papita. These fries are not as common as Potato fries/ French fries, but papaya fries are tasty as well as very nutritious as papaya has powerful antioxidants which improves digestion and heart health. Here is the recipe with step by step instructions, tips and pictures.
1. Firstly, wash and peel the skin of papaya. Cut it into half and remove all the seeds, then chop into the finger-length sticks. I have used half papaya for preparing these fries.
2. Take 4 cup water in a vessel, then add 1/2 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp turmeric powder to it. Get the water to a boil.
3. Add 2 cup raw papaya and boil for 3-4 minutes.
4. Drain off the water making sure there is not much moisture in the papaya sticks.
5. Take the papaya sticks in a bowl and add 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp red chili powder, 1/4 tsp ground black pepper, 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 cup corn flour to it.
6. Mix well making sure all the spices and corn flour are coated well.
7. Now drop in hot oil, pour as much as you can into the Kadai/ Pan.
8. Stir occasionally and fry on the medium flame.
9. Fry until the chips turn golden brown and crisp.
10. Raw Papaya Fries are ready. Enjoy them with tomato ketchup.
