'Panchmewa' means 5 types of dry fruits. As its name tells this recipe is prepared with 5 types of dry fruits and condensed milk. This amazing Paag is especially prepared on Janamashtmi and also prepared for bhog at some places. This is a traditional sweet recipe, prepared on any festive occasion or whenever you crave for something sweet . Here is the recipe with step by step instructions and pictures.
1. Ingredients Preview.
2. Heat a pan/wok and add 2 tbsp ghee to it.
3. Add almonds to it and roast it for 2 minutes.
4. Take out the roasted almonds in a plate.
5. In the same pan add cashew and roast it for a minute.
6. Take out the roasted cashew in the plate.
7. In that pan add lotus seeds (Makhane) and roast them for 3 minutes. Take it out in a plate.
8. Add 1/2 tbsp ghee in the same pan and add desiccated coconut to it. You can use grated dry coconut in place of desiccated coconut.
9. Add raisins to it and roast both coconut and raisins together for 2-3 minutes.
10. Coarsely grind the roasted lotus seeds in a grinder jar or crush them in the mortar.
11. Similarly, grind coarsely roasted almonds and cashews in a grinder jar/ mortar.
12. All the 5 dry fruits are ready .
13. Heat 1/2 tbsp ghee in a pan and add condensed milk to it.
14. Bring a boil and then add prepared dry fruits to it.
15. Mix them well.
16. Add cardamom powder to it. Cook and stir the mixture continuously for 4-5 minutes or until it is thick.
17. When it starts leaving the pan, the mixture is ready.
18. Transfer the mixture in a greased plate and spread the mixture with the help of spatulas.
19. Garnish it with finely chopped pistachio. The mixture is set after the 15-20 minutes, mark the cut on the mixture. You can decide the size of the mixture according to your choice.
20. The dry fruit fudge is set after the 20 minutes. PanchMewa Paag is ready to serve.
