Palak Chole Tikki is a healthy, simple and easy to prepare pan fry snack, which is prepared with very few ingredients, mainly with spinach and white chickpeas. It can be served as an evening snack. This recipe is super nutritious as tikkis are prepared with very less oil and has all the goodness of spinach and white chickpeas. Spinach is an extremely nutrient-rich vegetable and eating spinach may benefit eye health, reduce oxidative stress, help prevent cancer, and reduce blood pressure levels. Chickpeas are also a good source of plant-based protein and high in dietary fiber, which helps with digestion. This recipe is dairy free and vegan. Here is the recipe with step by step instructions and pictures.
1. Firstly, take 1 cup blanched spinach in a grinder jar.
2. Then add 1 cup boiled white chickpeas/ garbanzo beans, 1/2 inch ginger and 1 green chili to it.
3. Blend to smooth and thick paste without adding any water.
4. Add salt to taste, 1/4 tsp dried mango powder/ Amchur, 1/2 tsp garam masala and 1/2 cup bread crumbs to it.
5. Mix well making a non-sticky dough. If the dough is still sticky, add 1-2 tablespoons of breadcrumbs and mix well. This helps to absorb moisture.
6. Take a ball sized spinach chickpea mixture, and prepare a flat round shaped tikki/cutlet. Likewise prepare all tikkis.
7. Heat a pan/tawa and heat 1-2 tbsp oil for Tawa fry Tikki. You can also shallow fry if you want.
8. Place tikkis on the griddle/pan to roast.
9. Flip over and roast the tikkis on both sides until they turn golden brown and crisp.
10. Healthy and delicious Palak Chole Tikki/ Spinach Chickpea Cutlets are ready to serve. Enjoy them hot with tomato ketchup or tamarind chutney or green chutney.
