Cheese Balls recipe is classic combination of potatoes, corn, veggies and cheese. It is very simple recipe and easy to prepare. It is perfect starter/snack recipe for parties and family/ friends get together. Kids also like cheese balls very much. The only challenge in making cheese balls that they might burst in hot oil while frying. To avoid that, keep them in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes. Here is the recipe with step by step instructions, tips and pictures.
1. Ingredients Preview.
2. In a large bowl, take 1 cup or 3-4 boiled and grated potatoes and then add 1/4 cup grated Mozzarella cheese in it.
3. Add 1/4 cup sweet corn, 2 tbsp green bell pepper, 2 tbsp red bell pepper and 2 tbsp grated carrot to it.
4. Then add 1 tsp ginger paste and 1 tsp mixed herbs/ Italian seasoning/ Oregano to it.
5. Add 1/2 tsp black pepper, 1/2 tsp chili flakes and salt to taste in it.
6. Add 1 tbsp corn flour and 2 tbsp bread crumbs to it.
7. Combine well to make a dough.
8. Now, let's prepare corn flour slurry by taking 2 tbsp corn flour, 2 tbsp maida and 1/2 cup water. Mix well making sure there are no lumps.
9. Take a ball sized mixture, flatten slightly and place 1/4 tsp mozzarella cheese in the centre.
10. Roll to form a smooth ball.
11. Dip the ball in a corn flour slurry and then roll in bread crumbs. I have used brown bread for bread crumbs.
12. Likewise, prepare all balls and keep them in refrigerator for 20 mins.
13. Deep fry in hot oil, stirring occasionally.
14. Fry on medium flame, until the cheese balls turn golden brown and crisp.
15. Cheese Balls are ready to serve. Enjoy with tomato ketchup!
