Chaat Masala recipe is very easy and simple to prepare at home. The advantage of preparing it at home is no use of preservative chemical. Though, this chat masala is easily available in the market, but the home made one tastes far better. There are myriad ways to prepare this spice mix and none of them is right or wrong as every region and part of India has its own unique and custom recipe for this spice mix. This masala is commonly used in all chat prepared at home, even you can use it in daily salads also. Here is the recipe with step by step instructions and pictures.

Ingredients to make Chaat Masala:
 ¼ cup Coriander Seeds/ Sabut Dhaniya
 2 tsp Cumin Seeds/ Jeera
 1 tsp Carom Seeds/ Ajvain
 1 tsp Fennel Seeds/ Saunf
 4-5 Dried Red Chilies
 5 Cloves
 2 tbsp Dried Mint leaves
 ½ tsp Citric Acid
 ¼ tsp Asafoetida/ Hing
 1 tsp Ginger Powder
 1 tsp Grounded Black Pepper
 1 tbsp Dried Mango Powder/ Aamchur
 2.50 tbsp Black salt
 1 tbsp Salt

2. In a heavy-bottomed pan take coriander seeds, cumin seeds, carom seeds and fennel seeds.

3. Roast them on low flame until the spices turn aromatic.

4. Transfer them to a bowl and keep it aside.

5. In the same pan add dried red chilies and cloves.

6. Then add dried mint leaves and roast them on low flame until they turn aromatic.

7. Keep them aside in the same bowl.

8. Cool all the spices and transfer them to the grinder jar.

9. Then add citric acid and Asafoetida powder(Heeng) to the jar.

11. Now add all the other spice powders (Ginger powder, Dried Mango powder, Grounded black pepper, Black slat & salt) in the jar.
