Bajra Til Tikki is very tasty and healthy snack for cold winter days. It is prepared mainly with only three ingredients- Bajra Atta/ Pearl millet flour, Jaggery/ Gur and Sesame/ Til. All the three ingredients are very healthy. Bajra is an essential part of the winter diet in many parts of India, especially in North India. Apart from its warming nature, it is a high source of iron, protein, fibre. It is also rich in magnesium, which helps keep the heart healthy and reduces the bad cholesterol. Bajra is used to make Roti, Khichdi etc. but Bajra Til tikki is the delicious way to include Bajra in your diet. Give this recipe a try this winter and enjoy heathy delicious sweet snack at tea time. 1. Ingredients Preview.
2. Add 1/2 cup Jaggery/Gur in a vessel and then add 1/2 cup water to it. Switch on the flame and dissolve the jaggery. Don't prepare sugar syrup/chashni.
3. Sieve it and keep it aside.
4. Add 2 cups of Millet flour/ Bajra Atta in a large bowl then add 1/3 cup Sesame/Til and a pinch of salt to it.
5. Then add jaggery water to it and mix it well to form a dough.
6. Knead it 8-10 mins to make a smooth dough.
7. Take lemon sized dough ball and flatten it between palms and press to make tikkis, 2” diameter.
8. Deep fry tikki in hot oil. Fry 3-4 tikkis at a time.
9. Wait till the tikki comes up on its own. Turn sides and fry till tikki turn brown.
10. Place them on the kitchen towel to remove excess oil. Likewise, prepare all Bajra Tikki.
11. Bajra Tikki are ready to serve. Enjoy healthy and delicious tikki! Cool and store them in an air tight container for 10-12 days.
